Mushroom, Wine & Beer Festival

  • mushroom_1

Join us November 7-16 for the 14th Annual Mushroom, Wine & Beer Festival, a celebration of the Mushroom, our county’s favorite fungi. Every year in late October, as the first rains start to fall, mushrooms flourish in abundance in Mendocino County, which is home to over 3,000 types of mushrooms. It’s the perfect place to sample and pick some of the 500 types of delicious edible mushrooms such as chanterelles, porcinis, morels, and hedgehogs, and even the extremely rare candy cap mushroom, a culinary treat with an intense maple syrup flavor, which grows only along the northern coast of California (and makes for delicious ice cream!).

We craft a myriad of events for your delight: mushroom, winemaker, and brewmaster dinners, mushroom exhibits, guided mushroom forays, wine and mushroom pairings, and much more! There’s even a Passport event that you can join in—visit wineries and breweries to enter a drawing for a Grand Prize!

Take your time to discover all that Mendocino County has to offer: gourmet restaurants, unique inns, picturesque villages, friendly wineries, outstanding breweries, majestic redwoods, and rugged seaside. Climb aboard the Beer, Wine & Mushroom Train, indulge yourself with a gourmet mushroom feast at an amazing winemaker or brewmaster dinner, then cozy up by the fire at the end of your perfect day in one of Mendocino County’s unique inns and rest up so you can start the next day with a cooking class, join a foraging adventure, attend a performance, take an art walk, or simply relax and do nothing at all.

Not JUST Cowboy Poetry & Apple Pie Throwdown
Saturday, September 13, 2014

The 2014 "Not JUST Cowboy Poetry and Apple Pie Throwdown" will be held at Emandal~A Farm on a River, 16500 Hearst P. O. Road, Willits, CA on September 13, 2014.

The event takes place on Saturday, September 13th. The concert starts at 3pm; however guests are encouraged to come early before the show to enjoy a day on the farm. 2pm is Open Mic; 2:30pm Apple Pie Tasting/Judging.

Many people like to go for swim in the Eel River, take a walk through the garden, or have a picnic lunch on the lawn. So bring the family and make a day of it!

This year Emandal is honored to host Juni Fisher, the first woman to be named WMAs Entertainer of the Year, and Jim and Karen Ross, actual 'cowboy' poets from the Sierra foothills near Jamestown, California.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Willits Public Library and Willits Daily Bread. And, a Silent Auction to benefit the Willits Senior Center!

While Emandal hosts this music event on their beautiful apple tree lawn, they also celebrate the bounty of fall fruit, with a little friendly competition in the form of an Apple Pie Throw Down. Last year they had 29 different pies to taste for the price of 5 bucks - with all proceeds going to the Willits Public Library. It is free to enter your pie in the Throw Down and you may enter more than one pie. Guest judges do a final taste test to rate the pies on crust, filling, appearance, overall flavor and creativity. Bakers have a chance to win a specially carved rolling pin - not to mention bragging rights for the year!

Tickets and Accommodations:
Tickets to Emandal's 2014 Cowboy Poetry event are $25 for General Admission (or $30 at the gate). $10 for Children Under 12.

Tickets can be purchased via e-mail through cowboypoetry@emandal.com, at the Willits Public Library, Willits Senior Center, Willits Daily Bread, Printing Plus, Yokum's Body Shop, Firefly Framing or by calling Tamara Adams @ (707) 459-9252.

There are limited VIP tickets available for $150 per person which includes event ticket, snacks/drinks during show, and farm fresh dinner with artists after the show.
