We invite you to experience the rich and diverse
history of Mendocino County and the Redwood Empire. The museum
is located in the Cultural & Activity Complex in picturesque
Willits, California, onetime home of Seabiscuit, and one of the
oldest annual Rodeos in the west.
Bring your picnic lunch to Recreation
Grove Picnic Area across the street, see steam-powered logging
and railroad equipment of the Museum and Roots of Motive Power,
Inc, view local basketry, artifacts from the 1850 shipwreck “Frolic”,
see a fully-furnished “hippie” van
from the 1960’s, and many other exhibited items from the
Museum’s collection.
Stop in and browse at the gift shop located
in the main lobby area, and check out the interesting
books and souvenirs.
You won’t want to miss this hidden gem!
